Finam Group Abandons Plans to Enter Kazakhstan Market
Russian financial group Finam has suspended its expansion strategy into Kazakhstan. According to company president Vladislav Kochetkov, Finam has decided against acquiring a local brokerage firm and entering the country’s market.
At the end of 2024, Kochetkov had announced ongoing talks with potential partners and projected that a deal could close in early 2025. However, the company has since revised its decision. While no official reasons were disclosed, analysts suggest that regulatory barriers, macroeconomic uncertainty, or a reassessment of strategic priorities may have played a role.
The withdrawal from Kazakhstan may indicate a stronger focus on domestic assets and a more cautious approach amid shifting conditions in cross-border investment.
